Community Programs

As a community champion, NDCU is proud of its involvement and achievement in a variety of successful programs and initiatives that enhance the experiences of our members and communities.

Community Investment

Our Community Investment Program (CIP) was specifically created to help our communities thrive; we provide financial assistance in the areas of education, community, economic development, social responsibility, wellness, recreation and arts, culture and heritage in the communities of Nelson, Rossland and the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.

Visit our CIP reports in the “Corporate Reports” section to view our support over the years.

Our commitment to students includes a public-school program that allocates funds to elementary and secondary schools in our service area that benefit many facets of school life. Our expectation is that, over time, as many students as possible will receive some benefit from our support.

Secondary School Awards

NDCU scholarships were established to recognize students from the Credit Union membership for their academic, volunteer and community achievements. Eight awards are granted annually to graduating students attending secondary schools in our service area.

Post-Secondary School Awards

NDCU has a long history of support for those members committed to furthering their academic, arts or trades skills in the post-secondary environment. Our support includes scholarships and bursaries for students attending Selkirk College. Four awards are made available through the Selkirk College Foundation and the Osprey Community Foundation.

Credit Union Foundation of BC Education Awards

To help students complete their studies, the foundation provides financial assistance to BC residents who are attending post-secondary accredited schools within the province so they may enter the workforce and become contributing members of their community. Credit union membership and financial need are the primary criteria.
