Free Swim in Rossland

A FREE SWIM from Nelson & District Credit Union

In this day and age if someone offers to invite you for a swim, especially a FREE swim, you would likely hesitate, wondering what the catch was – but this time there are no surprises – except that you can enjoy a FREE swim at the Rossland Pool during RossFest2007!

On Wednesday August 29, 2007, and only on Wednesday August 29,2007, the Rossland Swimming Pool Society will be offering a FREE swim to anybody who wants one and your visit will be paid for by the Rossland Community Branch of Nelson & District Credit Union! The regular swim rate is very reasonable to begin with but if you live in the area it may be one of those things that you keep putting off and then never do. Here is your chance to go for a dip! Have friends or relations in town for the l week So much the better! Bring them along and then they can tell their friends about it!

The Rossland Swimming Pool Society has been around for 75 years and they have a dedicated volunteer Board that keeps the pool running and dedicated volunteers and work parties that keep the pool full. Robin Hethey, Manager of the pool, says the society was overjoyed to hear about the Credit Union’s generous offer. “It’s great support for our society and gives the community a reason to come down for a swim on the last day of operations for the year”.

When asked why the credit union would be willing to pay everyone’s swim for a day, Brian Poch, Branch Manager of the Rossland Community Branch of Nelson & District Credit Union said, “We believe that supporting events and organizations in the communities in our three service areas is an important aspect of our business. The idea of giving something to the community and enriching a local club at the same time seemed appropriate for a celebration like RossFest. We hope a large number of people come out and enjoy the day!”
