.Requests must be in writing on the attached form in addition to any supplementing materials to your local community branch of Nelson & District Credit Union.

.Any and all requests will be reviewed by: our Branch Representative(s) and/or our Community Investment Program Team and/or our Board of Directors. Please allow approximately one month for a decision to be made. Large donation requests and complex applications may take longer than one month.

.Individuals/organizations that have their account at, or will move their account to Nelson & District Credit Union, are given priority. The credit union will always take into consideration the amount of exposure it will receive and the benefit the community will receive.

.We will endeavour to support local community programs that our (1) members are involved in and (2) our employees and/or Directors are involved in. Even though a member may be involved, often national or international initiatives fall outside of our mandate.

.When determining the size of our donation (whether it’s cash, cash in kind, or prizes), groups, organizations and teams will take consideration over individuals. To a large extent those who benefit the most people will get a greater preference.

.We are supportive of provincial programs that involve other credit unions and/or Central 1 CU.

.Applicants must have a proven record of financial accountability and sustainability when requesting additional support.

.We will not become involved with any individuals(s) or organization that is perceived by Nelson & District Credit Union’s Management and/or Directors to be fraudulent, controversial or irresponsible.

.Due to the number of donation requests this credit union receives on an annual basis we cannot always approve every request. Your request will be given fair consideration based upon the criteria above and the current state of our CIP budget. Receiving a donation in one year does not mean we can/will make a similar commitment in following years. On-going commitment will be reviewed with consideration to the future viability/sustainability of the request. Priority will be given to individuals/organizations that are Nelson & District Credit Union members.

.Successful recipients must be willing to receive a short community investment presentation at a succeeding board meeting or personal meeting (for individual applications) if requested by NDCU.
