Nelson & District Credit Union is governed by a nine person board of directors
representing all members. As a board they provide direction on long-range objectives,
determine policy, and monitor progress of the Credit Union. They hire and guide the
Chief Executive Officer and help establish and evaluate strategic objectives.
Your board is accountable to the members while acting in the best interests of the Credit Union. Directors are elected for a three-year term.
As a member, you own, operate and control your Credit Union through your board of directors. Members elect their board of directors annually, and each member has one vote regardless of the number of shares owned. The board then elects officers from its own membership and appoints each member to various committees.
Board of director duties include establishing corporate objectives, approving corporate strategies and plans, allocating resources through the budget process, approving financial statements and major financial decisions, appointing and evaluating the CEO, and reviewing the operations.
Each director receives an annual base honorarium based on a resolution approved by the Credit Union membership.
